Naughty & Nice

The Naughty: I was greeted with a box of Dunkin’ Donuts this morning. I took an original glazed donut and enjoyed it without guilt. ‘Twas yummy!

The Nice: I decided to balance out the not-so-nice-to-my-body breakfast with a salad from Cosi.

Yep I decided to give Cosi another shot after the disappointing time I had it this day. Heather recommended the salads there so I decided to go with their Shanghai Chicken salad and I really enjoyed it! All I saw was the top of the salad so I assumed the container was “flat” like McDonald’s salads are, but when I took it out of their bag, it was REALLY DEEP!!

I also liked how they had a little room left on top. So like Heather recommended I got the dressing on the side, put in a few spoonfuls, put the cover back on, and then shook it like a McSalad Shaker. Do you guys remember those?? I actually liked those.

I may try the Tandoori Chicken sandwich next time. Anyone have any recommendations?

For some reason after work I got a surge of energy to CLEAN our place. Since that is a rare feeling, I hurried and made a simple and quick dinner before the feeling could get away:

(clockwise from top) rice, (pam) fried egg (hehe I like how the yolk turned out), kimchi, egg battered pollack thing

I love days like today where I don’t really think about eating food that much. I wonder what makes some days SO hard not to munch, and other days so easy not to munch. Oh well, both days come and go!

  • I LOVE Dunkin Donuts. Mmmm…

  • Wow, what a wonderful day Madison! I’m so glad you enjoyed without the guilt!

  • I’m glad that Cosi didn’t disappoint twice! And I’m really glad that you had a happy, successful day in regards to your eating. Congratulations!

  • What a great day! Well balanced and you cleaned!

  • Aww that’s not that naughty, you stopped at one which is better than what I might have done! :)

  • I totally remember the salad shakers! I prefer McD’s newer salads though ;) Cosi salad sounds good because it’s big–in my opinion salads should be of massive proportions!

  • You had some great food today. Be proud of yourself. I’ve never had a McD salad before, but I will remember your salad trick for the future. =P

  • Great job today! Good job with moderation on the Dunkin Donut – only one plain one. And I know what you mean about some days being easier than others. It’s ideal when you just don’t think about food that much at all and focus on other things. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way.

  • hey lady love! i actually love the Bombay Chicken
Salad from cosi….but its on the lighten up menu. (its Mixed greens with roasted red peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions topped with Tandoori chicken breast. Tossed with peppercorn ranch fat free balsamic.) its only about 200 calories which is WAY TOO LOW for a lunch–so u will need bread/soup on the side to ward off afternoon munchies!!

YAY for the donuts and keeping obsessive food thoughts @ bay-your great!

  • lol I wish I would get a surge of energy to clean, my house needs it!

Your fried egg looks too awesome, it almost doesn’t look real!

  • Lorraine- haha, i guess it wasn’t too naughty :)

    Lara- i agree, they’re huge! i like it =)

Seeleelive- thanks girly! =) i’ll have to try that bombay chicken salad~ sounds yummy!

limberkimbers- haha! i thought it looked cool too. and i was super excited about the surge to clean, i embraced it b/c its so rare, esp on a weeknight :)

  • I remember the McDonalds shaker salad! :)
Sounds like you had a great day, you made good tradeoffs at your meals. And cleaning is great exercise!

  • You have more willpower than me. I couldn’t just stop at one. My body turns upside down when I eat things I love that I don’t need.

Oh, we have to hunt our deer, they don’t sell it in stores. I’m not sure why, but they don’t.

  • Thanks for the shout out! So glad you enjoyed your salad. I would recommend any of Cosi’s salads – never been disappointed.

I wish I would get in the mood to clean after work. Usually all I want to do is veg!

Sounds like you had a good day. I don’t know why some days are harder than others. My worst days are when I’m bored. If I have nothing to do, I just think about the next meal or snack all day long. However, if I’m busy, the day flies by and I rarely think about food…well, I wouldn’t say rarely, but definitely much less! :)

  • haha I know what you mean – if you’re feeling it go and do before it leaves you! Too funny! When I get to cleaning Austin’s like ‘take a break’ i’m like NO – i’ll never finish it if I do! :)

GREAT day for you! I love those days when food just happens, too – I wish I had more of them! I had a bad day yesterday. :(

  • i went to cosi once and was disappointed too. but so many people say its awesome. i got a sandwhich, but i didn’t get it toasted. i think that was my mistake! and way to bring back the memeories with the mcshaker :) haha

  • your food looks yummy today! Its such a challenge to not worry about food/calories! congrats you had a great daywithout the worry!

  • way to keep it all in perspective — when I have a day like that, my first thought is “wow I’m cured of all food anxiety!!” hehe

  • omg i loooove cosi’s flatbread! it’s like crack! i used to work above one, literally, my office building had one under it, i didn’t even have to leave my building to get to it. i haven’t had it in ages tho. i used to adore their signature salad and bombay chicken salad.
i’m looking at their site right now… their new four cheese & fig melt look good… mmmm

and i love how the egg looks like you painted a fake circle of yellow on it :D haha… mmm kimchi

  • Great job today!!!

Thanks for the info on Cosi; one just opened near my house, so I’ll have to try it out:)

  • I know what you mean about the urge to clean, I have to do it right away or it goes away!

  • oh, dunkin donuts. why must you be so hard to resist? good for you for stopping at one… :)

  • HeatherEatsAlmondButter- I knooow usually all i wanna do is veg after work haha. and i agree, being busy is what keeps my mind most off food.

    thanks Petitfoodie :)

fitforfree- haha! your comment made me laugh for some reason. i guess that thought has crossed my mind before too :)

misstiffie- i love their flatbread too!! i think i like their whole wheat one better than the rustic or whatever one. more texture!
and i have been EYEING that fig/cheese sandwich. eee maybe i’ll just get it today. lol about the painted egg :)

  • I wish we had a cosi near me, the only time I’ve been to one is when I was in DC 2 years ago. Everything looks delicious especially that egg you had for dinner, it look slike a cartoon egg! lol.

  • okay i just looked up the nutrition for the 4 cheese and fig melt sandwich, and its nearly 800 calories, so i think i’ll pass on that lol.

  • When I ates the chicken I used to get the Tandoori salad and loved the flavors!

  • Love your blog, love your eats, love everything! I read your blog all the time but havent commented yet. I love how open you are, and the food you make always looks so good!

  • good for you for having (and enjoying) a donut! sounded yum – glazed are my fave! send some of those “want to clean” vibes my way LOL

  • i love days like that too, when you don’t think bout food much though i seem to rarely have them! You sound like you had a nicely balanced day
hope tomorrow is awesome for you girlie, have fun!

  • I totally do the salad shaking thing. Even if I have to eat a little off the top, then add a little more dressing and shake it up. Subway will let you get any sandwich salad style. They’re pretty good for a drive thru, and you can skip the dressing and just get vinegar with a little Parmesan makes for a healthy light salad. Ummm…I’m getting hungry now =)

  • Thanks thelongweigh!! you’re so kind =)

FitnessSurfer- oh i had no idea about Subway’s sandwich style salads…the sweet onion chicken teriyaki one would be yummy!

  • [...] My friend came over to spend the night because she is basically homeless at the moment. We were just cold and starving when we got home, so we quickly made dinner and essentially ate this again. Look familiar? [...]
